Double storey extension over existing bungalow

Perrancoombe, Cornwall

The proposal was to create a two storey extension over the existing bungalow, with a full property remodel which would combine function design with sustainable solutions. The two-storey extension not only adds four additional bedrooms but integrates renewable energy through photovoltaic panels.

Key Features:

  • Additional living space: A spacious double storey extension allows for an open-plan kitchen, living and dining space, along with a separate snug and play/pool room, seamlessly connected the properties swimming pool.
  • Modern Aesthetic: The properties appearance was modernised from a traditional 1960s bungalow appearance by incorporating red cedar wood and ZClad materials into the entrance, creating a striking contrast and modernising the façade.
  • Grand Entrance: A double-height entrance hall with a feature staircase welcomes the family and guests.
  • Connecting bridge: Due to the topography of the site, the rear garden is set at a much higher level than the front, so a new bridge that connects the first floor to the rear garden is a special remodel feature to this double storey extension
