At Lacaze Architecture, I specialise in all residential properties.
Adding a loft conversion to your home can provide valuable extra space without extending outwards, so you don’t lose space to your driveway or garden.
Loft conversions are a great way to increase living space and to create a new environment for you and your family to enjoy. Whether you need a new bedroom, a home office or additional bathrooms, loft conversions can be versatile and can be customised to suit your needs.
By adding a loft conversion to your home, you can also enhance thermal efficiency throughout your home. Also, by installing either dormer windows, or Velux rooflights, you can increase the daylight throughout your home and benefit from views in your surrounding area.

Before starting your loft conversion, there are several key design factors we need to evaluate to ensure the project is viable:
The 2.2m Rule: Your existing loft must ideally accommodate a head height of 2.2m. If you’re unsure, I can verify this for you during our initial consultation.
Raising the Roof: If head height is restricted, raising the roofline is a brilliant option—especially if your current roof requires repairs or if the property is detached.
Staircase Integration: Access is everything. Depending on the layout, we may need to utilise a small portion of a room on the floor below to create a natural flow to your new loft.
Dormers & Balconies: Adding a dormer window is a game-changer for both head height and usable floor space. To truly elevate the design, we can even incorporate features like a Juliet balcony.
Structural Integrity: Most conversions require structural alterations. I work closely with trusted local structural engineers to ensure your new space is as safe as it is beautiful.
I love hearing about the ambitions you have for your home.
